These Submission Terms apply to all manuscripts, proposals, documents, and materials (“Submissions”) sent to Antarctic Developer & Publisher Ltd, operating under the editorial imprint Kalamo, through this website or by email.
By submitting a manuscript, you agree to these Terms.
1. No Contractual Relationship Created
Submitting a manuscript does not:
- Create a contract
- Guarantee publication
- Establish any financial or legal obligation
- Require us to provide feedback, reasons for rejection, or editorial guidance
We may accept or decline any Submission at our sole discretion.
2. Copyright and Ownership
2.1. You retain full copyright
Authors keep all copyright and intellectual property rights in their Submissions unless a publishing agreement is signed.
2.2. No rights are transferred
Submission does not grant us:
- Publishing rights
- Distribution rights
- Licensing rights
- Adaptation or translation rights
These rights are only granted if and when a formal publishing contract is executed.
3. Author Warranties
By submitting a manuscript, you confirm that:
- You are the sole creator and copyright owner of the work
- The work does not infringe the rights of any third party
- The work does not contain unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content
- You have the legal right to submit the material
- The Submission is original and not plagiarised
- The Submission is not under exclusive consideration by another publisher (unless disclosed)
You agree to indemnify us against any claims arising from breach of these warranties.
4. Limited Evaluation Licence
By submitting a manuscript, you grant us a temporary, non‑exclusive, revocable licence to:
- Receive, store, and read the Submission
- Share it internally with authorised editorial staff
- Evaluate it for potential publication
This licence exists solely for evaluation purposes and ends when:
- The Submission is rejected, or
- You withdraw it in writing
We do not share Submissions with third parties without your explicit consent.
5. Confidentiality
We treat all Submissions as confidential and do not disclose them to external parties except:
- With your permission
- As required by law
- To protect our legal rights
However, we cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality due to the nature of electronic communication.
6. No Obligation to Return Materials
We are not required to:
- Return physical or digital copies of Submissions
- Provide editorial notes or feedback
- Store Submissions after evaluation
You are responsible for keeping your own copies.
7. Similar Works
You acknowledge that:
- We may receive Submissions similar to yours
- We may independently develop or publish works with similar themes, ideas, or concepts
- Similarity does not entitle you to compensation or rights
Ideas cannot be protected under copyright law; only the expression of those ideas can.
8. Withdrawal of Submissions
You may withdraw your Submission at any time by contacting:
kalamo.submissions@gmail.com
Withdrawal ends the evaluation licence but does not affect any rights granted under a signed publishing agreement (if applicable).
9. Accepted Manuscripts
If your Submission is accepted:
- You will receive a formal publishing agreement
- Rights and obligations will be governed exclusively by that contract
- No rights are transferred until the contract is signed
- You may decline the offer without penalty
Acceptance does not guarantee publication until the agreement is executed.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Loss or damage to Submissions
- Technical issues affecting delivery or storage
- Loss of data
- Decisions regarding acceptance or rejection
- Any reliance placed on communications prior to a signed contract
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where such exclusion is not permitted by law.
11. Data Protection
Personal data submitted with your manuscript is processed in accordance with:
- The UK‑GDPR
- The Data Protection Act 2018
For full details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Submission Terms from time to time. The date of the latest revision will always appear at the top of this page.
